There were also claims made that the weight of the bracelet would diminish over time as proof the copper in the bracelet was being absorbed in to the body, moving its healing properties to the affected joints. Today, copper is used in many fabrics to help form an antimicrobial shield against infection as well as to slow down the deterioration of the material into which it has been infused.
