All About Blood Pressure MedicationsIn some cases, when there is even the slightest hint that a patient is going to have problems with blood pressure, whether it be through a family history check or off and on signs of high blood pressure, doctors will begin to guide that person towards healthier eating in order to stay off of blood pressure medications. But if the doctor's orders are not followed or for other reasons the problems with high blood pressure continue, blood pressure medications may be in that person's future. How To Get Off Meds If you or someone close to you is taking blood pressure medications, while they may want to stop, no one should ever stop taking any sort of medication unless approved by the doctor. Stopping medication too early could throw the health of the person into danger and some of those dangers could be life threatening. If interested in getting off your blood pressure medications you must first speak with your doctor who will review your medical history to see how you have been doing and if there is any risk in taking you off. If he or she sees that you could possibly get off of the blood pressure medications, they will typically advise you in more detail then before about your diet and exercise as they want to make sure that you are fully aware of how to keep your blood pressure down. Also, your doctor, if doing their job right, will make sure that you understand any and all consequences for going off of your blood pressure medications and they may even ask you to sign some sort of release or agreement to the fact that you acknowledge the risks. All in all, when the right steps are taken, it can be easy to get off of you blood pressure medications. |
