Alternative Cures For Insomnia



Insomnia is a condition that affects the sleep patterns of many people. It can be caused by many factors, most of which are stress, anxiety, medication and other disorders that may affect your sleep. Over the years, researchers have developed several cures for insomnia. Some of these are medication which needs regular use until the disorder is cleared. Others have also developed alternative treatments that have been known to clear the sleep disorder. These alternative cures for insomnia may be effective for some while others are not affected at all.

Several Alternative Cures for Insomnia

Aromatherapy is said to soothe people's minds and promote a sense of relaxation and well being that can cause sleepiness or a mellowness that can be a prelude to sleep. Of all the alternative cures for insomnia, aromatherapy is the broadest in the sense that everybody uses it and not for the dame reason. The more common scents that are said to promote sleep and relaxation are lavender, ylang-ylang, Benzoin, Jasmine, Lemon balm or Melissa, Neroli, Rose, sandalwood and Sweet Marjoram. These can be used in candle burners or just a few drops in your pillow or sleeping clothes can have the desired effect.

Massage is also one of the cures for insomnia that are not exclusively just for insomnia sufferers. Massage can relieve stress and other body pains that may plague the person. Some massages involve the use of essential oils which serves as aromatherapy at the same time. This is one of the cures for insomnia that is very popular and very relaxing.



Other cures for insomnia that are herbal based and those that involved here are scented herbal hot baths, herbal teas, tinctures an herbal essential oils for aromatherapy or massage. Herbal cures have been around for centuries and many of these have been the basis for research regarding medicine or drugs that are used today.

More ways to help you overcome insomnia are mindset that includes thinking of the bed as somewhere to sleep not a place to do work or eat. Other cures for insomnia, include eating a light meal instead of a heavy one that could make you uncomfortable, avoid drinking caffeine laden beverages and foods, exercising at least 15 - 30 minutes per day could stimulate proper blood circulation and promote better sleeping habits and a glass of warm milk can boost serotonin levels in the brain and stimulate drowsiness.

These are just a few of the alternative cures for insomnia that are available. Some of these may work for some people and others may not. It is always the preference of the individual which way he chooses to cure his insomnia.
