Curing Insomnia without Medication or Drugs

Curing insomnia has long been the goal of many researchers and scientists. They have developed many drugs to make the person's with insomnia asleep but they have not really taken the fight to the roots of insomnia. Curing insomnia may have something to do with a person's mind and psychological experiences. Most insomnia cases are base on anxiety or traumatic events which are all linked to the psyche of a person.

Seeking professional help is one way of tackling insomnia for good. Other ways of curing insomnia may be through alternative medicines or therapy. You could also try to make your own treatment by following these simple ways to help achieve sleep.

One way to condition your body to sleep is to try to go to bed around the same time. Regularly going to bed at approximately the same time can induce sleepiness when you lie on the bed. This will be more effective if you use your bed for sleeping purposes only and not work on it or watch TV on it.

Curing insomnia can also be achieved by cutting back or even taking a respite on caffeine laden beverages and foods. Coffee, tea and some soft drinks or sodas can affect your sleep. It will also help if you have a light meal which is just enough to satisfy you for dinner. Drinking warm milk can boost the serotonin levels in your brain and induce drowsiness.

Trying to relax yourself once you are in bed ready to sleep can also help in curing insomnia. Try to concentrate on relaxing your feet first and then each successive part of your body. Try to make them as limp as you can and try to leave your mind a blank to promote drowsiness. As you are doing this, it will also help to try and imagine yourself in a beautiful and relaxing place where o one can disturb you.

Regular exercise can also help to promote better sleep. This uses up your excess energy and promotes better blood circulation for a healthier you. Keeping your room cool can also help you sleep better and prevent unnecessary waking. Curing insomnia can also be done by dimming your room or turning off the lights.
