A Variety of Hair Loss Causes

Hair loss is a condition that affects both men and women. Although, hair is more of a luxury for most of us, hair loss can affect the self esteem of many people. The sight of bald patches or thinning hair can be demoralizing and depressing for many individuals.

Hair loss causes are varied. Some are natural causes while others are triggered by exposure to elements and diseases. Hair loss causes include the natural shedding of hair that everybody experiences every day of our lives.

This shedding is part of our hair's growth cycle that happens around two to six years. Every strand of hair has a different growth cycle, which is why we shed some strands of hair daily when we bathe or brush our hair.

Uncommon Hair Loss Causes

For women who had just given birth, they can expect to lose a lot of hair within a few months. Hair loss causes of this kind are due to the hormonal imbalance that happens to women who just gave birth.

Hormonal imbalance is actually one of the main hair loss causes that happen to people. People who have hyperthyroidism also experience hair loss due to a hormonal imbalance and so do women who go through menopause.

Other hair loss causes are the side effects of exposure to elements and other chemicals (like chemotherapy) and a post operative side effect. The follicles are not harmed in these procedures and hair grows back as soon as exposure is reduced or stopped.

Some medications are major hair loss causes along with deep head injuries that result to scarring. For these kinds of hair loss causes, the follicles themselves are killed when the head obtained the injury and there is no way of growing them back.

Hair loss causes that are natural occurrences include a genetic susceptibility to male pattern baldness (females can also be affected by this) or thinning hair. Another of the plethora of hair loss causes is frequent tying of the hair strands in a tight manner.

A tight pony tail can give stress and pressure on the follicles and these will eventually die out or the hair will break. Dead follicles might grow again after some time of reducing the tying while perennial hair breakage can result to a limp look or thinned out hair.

Take care of your hair by regularly cleaning it and careful brushing. Rough brushing can induce breakage. Shampoos and conditioners can improve the looks of the hair strand but to grow healthy hair, you need to eat healthily.
