It is a surface refractive procedure, one in which the surgeon uses a fine and precise instrument known as a microkeratome, with which they are able to mechanically separate an epithelial flap from the surface of the cornea. Once this has been completed, an excimer laser is then used to correct the patient's prescription. Other valuable information on laser eye surgery involves finding a surgeon. Although all laser eye surgeries are considered as being minor procedures, it is still important to make sure that you are in as safe and qualified hands as possible.
