Obtaining National Certification Training in Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

For those desiring to obtain national certification training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, there are several good places to begin. The Internet is an excellent research tool and finding institutes that offer hypnotherapy classes and hypnosis training is relatively easy. Though hypnotherapy is primarily certified from state to state, many sites claim that they offer national certification and utilize instructors who are nationally certified.

Hypnotherapy is viewed as an alternative career and training is usually offered through holistic centers that also teach alternative treatments such as massage and acupuncture. Obtaining national certification as a hypnotherapist can occur through one of the larger hypnotherapy schools which offer advanced accreditation. Another place to begin in researching national certification training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy is with local hypnotherapists. Many are licensed psychologists who will most likely be happy to refer you to an appropriate training institute or center.

There are no clear national regulations for hypnotherapists. Training includes coursework performed either online or in the classroom and hands-on experience by either internship or residency. Many sites reference that their entire program requires only 200-250 hours to complete. This is most likely for an Associate's degree or two year degree in hypnotherapy. Advanced degrees comparable to bachelor's or master's degrees are also available.

National Certification Training in Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy: The Easy Way

National certification training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be obtained quickly via the Internet. Some sites offer online courses and charge only a $249 fee for enrolling. Though this may be helpful for those who want to learn basic hypnosis or how to induce self-hypnosis, it is not beneficial in a career as a hypnotherapist. Hands-on training is mandatory to work with clients or patients. Due to the very nature of hypnotherapy, training must also include ethics since patients under hypnosis can be easily taken advantage of.

As with any real profession, there is no easy way to truly obtain national certification training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy. The proper way to be trained and certified is as follows: A two year online course training program to learn the basics of hypnotherapy (200-250 hours), advanced accreditation through weekend seminars (50 hours), Master's training and testing (55-150 hours),

and a one year residency providing hands-on practice under a licensed hypnotherapist (360 hours)

Any training program that does not offer a residency or internship portion should be discounted. Individuals who desire to receive valid national certification training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy must be trained under a licensed expert to learn the skills required in hypnotherapy practice. These programs are most likely money-making schemes that offer no accreditation.
