Natural Skin Care Treatments For Acne, Psoriasis And Eczema
Natural skin care treatments have been around for a long time. The key to many of the natural skin care treatments for acne, psoriasis and eczema is honey.
Acne
Central to honey's effectiveness in treating acne is its antimicrobial agents. Antimicrobial agents inhibit the growth of bacteria, a key factor in acne outbreaks. Apply pressure and leave on for several minutes, and then with a cotton swab apply a small amount of honey. Allow the honey to dry for 10 to 12 minutes, then rinse off and pat dry.
Psoriasis And Eczema
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder which results in thick red areas covered with silvery scales, often on the scalp, elbows, knees and back. It is believed that part of the immune system is triggered to produce and abnormal build up of skin cells. Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder that causes dry, itchy patches on the skin. Usually these are found on the face, knees, elbows, and hands and feet.
The Bastyr Center for Natural Health recently completed a study, which treated these two skin disorders with a natural skin care treatment of a mixture of honey, olive oil and beeswax. Eighty percent of the patients in the Bastyr study showed dramatic improvements in their skin conditions after using the mixture of honey, olive oil and beeswax.
Honey and olive oil have ample quantities of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help decrease pain, reduce scaring and lead to faster healing. Beeswax, is often used in natural skin care treatments for burns and other skin conditions, also has loads of anti-inflammatory properties.
The study concluded that a natural combination of honey, olive oil and beeswax can provide a real benefit to people suffering from eczema and psoriasis. The study goes on to recommend that this natural skin care mixture be included in future treatments.
