Choosing An Herbal Panic Attack Remedy

Panic attack syndrome affects thousands of people worldwide. There are several treatments available for people, including anti-anxiety medication, hypnosis, and acupuncture; but many people prefer to utilize an herbal panic attack remedy which doesn't involve any sort of drugs or invasive therapy.

Finding an herbal panic attack remedy can be a bit difficult if you don't know where to start. This list can point you in the right direction. However, before you begin any type of treatment for panic attack disorder, be sure to consult your doctor to make certain that it is safe for you to use.

Aromatherapy Herbal Treatments

If you're looking for an herbal panic attack remedy, then there's no better place to start than with herbs that promote relaxation and stress relief. The most popular of these is lavender. While many recognize lavender for its calming effects at bedtime, most do not realise that lavender can be used any time one feels high stress levels.

To use lavender as an herbal panic attack remedy, it is recommended that you carry with you a small tube of lavender hand lotion, or a vial of lavender oil. Each time you feel yourself beginning to have a panic attack, simply rub some of the lotion or oil on your hands, and apply at your temples, as well. The scent of the lavender will start to calm you almost immediately.

You can also use chamomile as an herbal panic attack remedy. Either by drinking chamomile tea (breathing in the steam deeply), or by carrying a small sachet filled with chamomile leaves that you can hold to your nose when you feel like panicking, you can help to reduce your chances of having a full-blown panic attack.

Other Herbal Remedies

You can also try several types of herbal tea. It is especially important that you consult your doctor first, though; prior to using any herbal teas as an herbal panic attack remedy. Many herbal teas interact badly with certain prescriptions. For example, you can't take St John's Wort AND antidepressants.

Both chamomile and lemon balm teas can be used to help treat panic attacks; as can tea made from the passion flower. Valerian root has also been used successfully as an herbal panic attack remedy, as has St. John's Wort. These herbs come in pill and tincture forms as well, and have proved quite successful in helping many people overcome their issues with panic disorder.
