Panic Attacks: No Warning, No Known CauseCauses Of Panic Attack One of the main physiological reasons behind why you can suffer from a panic attack is that the adrenaline in your body will suddenly and in excessive amounts, enter your system and along with a few other factors will bring on an onset of a panic attack. However, despite many studies having been conducted on why a panic attack happens, there is as yet no conclusive evidence to show the exact cause of the problem, though it can be triggered by a traumatic experience or event, and it can also be specific to certain situations. According the Merck Manual, it is estimated that at least a third of the adult population in the world will have experienced a panic attack at least once in a year, though in some people, the attacks can be more frequent. Obviously, if you are at risk of such an attack, it would help to avoid situations that can trigger the panic attack, though it would be wiser for you to first discuss the situation with your doctor and to follow his recommendations. Once the panic attack gets to you, stopping it is not all that easy since the attacks feed on themselves and if you try to control them, the worse they seem to get. Your best bet in such situations would be to relax and do breathing exercises as well as try and become more positive in your thinking so that you can effectively combat the negative state of mind that you would feel. There are no doubts to the fact that panic attacks can scare the living daylights out of you and because there may not be any apparent cause behind the attack, this mysterious nature of a panic attack tends to scare the individual even more. However, if you have one, makes sure to make a serious attempt to control yourself and never allow it to overcome you completely. |
