Recognizing the Signs of Menopause

The signs of menopause are usually not hard to notice, and in some cases the signs of menopause are so intense that a woman has to seek medical attention. It is important that all women are aware of the different signs of menopause that they may experience so that once the transition of menopause begins in their own life they will be able to recognize it.

Signs of Menopause

There are literally hundreds of different symptoms and signs of menopause that a woman may experience, but the most common include night sweats, hot flashes, irregular periods, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, mood swings, depression, irritability, panic disorder, difficulty concentrating, sleep disorders, allergies, and aching joints.

Menopausal symptoms affect the majority of women approaching and experiencing menopause, and they will usually last for the entire menopause transition. There are hot flashes, which are basically the body's way of cooling itself off. They can also be triggered by anxiety which is another of the most common symptoms of menopause.

A loss of libido is another of the most commonly experienced signs of menopause, and although everyone tends to experience peaks and valleys in sexual desire, many women when going through menopause find that they are not interested in having sex at all. Not only can this end up being frustrating for them but also to their partner.

There are options here however, and occasionally a hormonal imbalance or prescription drug can be suggested to help with the woman's sex drive.

Sleeping disorders, which often begin at the onset of menopause, can be incredibly difficult and frustrating to deal with. Most women have a busy enough life to have to add on another thing to worry about, and sleeping disorders can cause serious disarray to the daytime because you will be exhausted and may even be suffering from insomnia.

Again there are options, and relief from sleeping disorders is usually found with prescription drugs. Sleeping aids are used to restore natural sleep and one of the most popular drugs to be prescribed for this is Zolpidem. Usually sold under the name Ambien, this medication must be taken regularly for a few days before any benefit will be noticed.

If you are finding it difficult to deal with the signs of menopause, it is important that you speak to your doctor and ask for their opinion on the entire situation. They will be able to assess your condition and determine which ideas are going to work best for you.
