Facts Gleaned From Many Sleep Disorder Studies



Many studies are based on sleep disorder. This is because many people are suffering from sleep disorder or insomnia. Sleep disorder studies have achieved some very interesting information regarding sleep disorders and insomnia. These sleep disorder studies have discovered that most disorder stem from a psychological aspect. Somnipathy or sleep disorders often interfere with the normal functions of a person brain making him unable to concentrate as well as a well rested person.

Kinds of Sleeping Disorders

Sleep disorder studies have further found that there are several disorders that does not affect your sleep but do happen during sleep. Some of these sleep disorders are bruxism where the sleeper grinds his teeth involuntarily, delayed sleep phase syndrome is where a sleeper has a hard time waking up or falling asleep when he wants to, hypopnea syndrome happens when the sleeper has a very shallow breathing while asleep. These disorders have been thoroughly researched and studied in many sleep disorder studies.

Narcolepsy, another sleep disorder, is the condition where the individual falls asleep involuntarily and without his knowledge while periodic limb movement and restless legs syndrome are the involuntary movements of the sleepers' limbs while sleeping. REM behavior disorder is the condition where sleepers act out violently or actively while in the REM state. Sleepwalking, sleep apnea and snoring are also included in the sleep disorder studies that abound.



There are many causes of sleep disorders, some of which are changes in life style which may be stressful, pain in the body, anxiety, psychological trauma, noise in the environment and many others. Sleep disorder studies have further revealed that there are three types of treatment for individuals suffering from sleep disorders. These are psychotherapeutic treatments, medication and somatic treatments.

Sleep disorder studies have also shown that although some medication and rugs do have an effect on better sleeping for most individuals, the psychotherapeutic treatments go way deeper and are much better treatments. This is because sleep disorder studies have noticed that psychotherapeutic treatments have a stronger and lasting effect compared to drugs and medication. These treatments go to the root of the problem and concentrate their treatment on the psyche of the sleeper involved.

Therefore, it is better to visit a professional psychotherapist and may be combine it with self help treatments to achieve better sleep. Sleep disorder studies are continuing even as we speak to further delve into the intricacies of sleep disorders and insomnia.
