Spotting During Pregnancy - Dangerous, Or NormalSigns Of Normal Spotting During Pregnancy There are a number of ways to determine whether you are simply experiencing normal spotting during pregnancy, or if it may be something more. Always consult a doctor any time you experience anything out of the norm, and especially if you have any concerns about spotting during your pregnancy. Typically, spotting during pregnancy will present as a darker, brownish color, or possibly a light pink. This color generally means that what you are experiencing is normal spotting. Typical causes for spotting during pregnancy include hemorrhoids, yeast infections, or urinary tract infections. None of these are very serious, and are experienced at some point during pregnancy by many women, whether they spot or not. A quick visit to your doctor will ease your mind, as he or she will most generally be able to offer something for the relief of the underlying cause of your spotting. The hormone flux in a woman when she becomes pregnant is the number one cause for spotting during pregnancy. It is because of this flux that so many women don't realize that they are pregnant until much later in the pregnancy than others. The hormone imbalance can cause a woman to spot during the same time of the month as when she would normally experience her period. When It Isn't Normal Of course, spotting during pregnancy can also signify a problem with the pregnancy. Although this is rare, and most problems are preceded with much heavier bleeding, a woman who is spotting during her pregnancy may be experiencing a more serious complication. A heavier, bright red color of bleeding can signify a miscarriage. Experts say that roughly forty percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage, but that these miscarriages generally happen within the first five weeks. Anytime you experience any spotting during pregnancy during your second or third trimester, call your doctor immediately! This could be a sign of a serious complication such as placental abruption, which is a separation of the placenta from the uterus; or placenta previa, in which your placenta will move to cover your cervix. To put your mind at ease, always call your doctor anytime you experience spotting during pregnancy. But remember, if you are within a few days of your due date& spotting during pregnancy may be an early sign of labour, so get ready to welcome home your little bundle of joy! |
