How Can You Stop Panic Attack From Ruining Your Life?



If you are amongst those who suffer from intermittent panic attacks you would know how difficult it is to function normally while you would apprehend the next panic attack. The fact that it is very difficult if not impossible to stop panic attack from occurring adds to the build up of anxiety.

You Will Be Happy To Know You Can Stop Panic Attack

Most people loose the battle before it starts because they believe they are helpless and hence they do not even try to fight it. They just steel themselves when it comes and bear it. However, this is not the way to live your life and the good news is that you do not need to do so either. You can stop panic attack with the help of a few simple yet very effective methods.

First and foremost you need to believe that you are in charge and you can indeed stop panic attack or at least reduce the intensity and impact it has on you. This is not easy as your fear for the symptoms of the attack would heavily interfere with your belief; so this needs to be conditioned in your psyche gradually.

Another method is to research your panic attacks and look for any clues that indicate any pattern. For example is there any particular situation or place that triggers the attack? Do you notice any preceding warning signs? How long does the attack normally last? What do you feel during and immediately after the attack? Document this information carefully and watch for any patterns. If any patterns emerge from this exercise it would help you to predict your next attack and thereby stop or reduce it.



Sometimes panic attacks are caused by hyperthyroidism or over-active thyroid gland. It would be good if you have your thyroid levels checked up to rule out this possibility. In case you have high thyroid levels this could be the reason for your panic attacks and you could stop panic attack occurrence with the medication that regulates your thyroid gland.

A very effective method to fight panic attacks is practicing mind control. It is difficult and it requires a lot of practice, but the results are worth the trouble. What you need to do here is to either distract yourself when the panic attack mounts or to resort to meditation. You should push your thoughts to positive experiences such as pleasant smells, sounds, feelings or visuals and force yourself to focus on the pleasant feedback so that it overlaps and negates the symptoms of the panic attack. This technique is extremely effective though it takes some time to master.
