Can A Stretch Mark Home Remedy Work For You?

No one goes to bed at night and prays, "Dear God, please let me wake up with stretch marks. Amen." Although stretch marks were once considered normal, they are now considered a very undesirable thing for a person to have. When you don't want something, a business forms around the removal of the unwanted thing. There are also many stretch mark home remedies that have popped up over the years. None of them work.

What Good They Can Do

A stretch mark home remedy can make you feel better emotionally and they tend to be pleasant to put on. They usually are lotions, oils or creams you put on after a bath or shower. Just the massaging motions can help with your skin circulation and help make you feel pampered. But, a stretch mark home remedy will not make your stretch marks vanish, not even a natural stretch mark remedy.

Stretch marks eventually fade in color and thickness over time, no matter what stretch mark home remedy you use. So, it might appear to be that the stretch mark home remedy has helped your stretch marks, but that appearance is an illusion. However, there is nothing wrong in getting a lotion, cream or oil to pamper yourself with (provided you are not allergic to the contents.) If you are pregnant, please check with your doctor before using a stretch mark home remedy.

A Complicated Problem

There are many, many reasons why people get stretch marks. But, there doesn't seem to be one overall culprit that makes stretch marks. You can get stretch marks during the natural ageing process, when you've gone through a growth spurt, when you've lost a good amount of weight, when you have Gushing's Syndrome (not to be confused with Cushing's Syndrome) or when you are pregnant. Eventually, you are going to get stretch marks, whether you use a stretch mark home remedy or not.

It is thought you can really aggravate the appearance of stretch marks or lengthen the time they need to fade and thin by not exercising regularly, eating a high proportion of processed and high fat foods, smoking (even being exposed to constant second-hand smoke) and drinking too many alcoholic beverages. Stretch marks seem to also be more apparent on light-skinned people than darker skins. Ideally, you need to be eating healthy and exercising regularly all your life to minimize stretch marks (among other good things for your body).
