People who suffer from frequent panic attacks are usually given a series of exercises and things they can do to help them treat their own panic attacks. It should be noted that if you do experience frequent panic attacks you should see your doctor immediately because experiencing frequent panic attacks can increase your chances of a heart attack or a stroke so do not just brush them off as insignificant, get yourself to a doctor right away if you experience frequent panic attacks. The ways to treat a panic attack focus more on getting the body back under control than on any medication or any other types of remedies. Some doctors will prescribe antidepressant medication or other kinds of medicine as ways to treat a panic attack but there are ways to treat a panic attack that you can do yourself if you find yourself experience a panic attack and there is no medication around.

The obvious way to start in ways to treat a panic attack is to remove the source of anxiety. A panic attack is a fight or flight reaction by your central nervous system to some sort of situation so if you can remove that situation then you stand a better chance of bringing yourself down from your panic attack. The ways to treat a panic attack without medication all revolve around relieving the situation and bringing your body back under control so whatever you have to do for that end you need to do. One of the other ways to treat a panic attack is to focus on the here and now and try not to think about the symptoms possibly getting worse. A panic attack is a reaction to a bad situation so thinking desperate and bad thoughts only makes it worse. Just focus on the moment you are in and do not think about what could be happening.

Another one of the ways to treat a panic attack is to simply take deep deliberate breaths and find a relaxing position. Space your deep breaths apart and keep them consistent. The method here is trying to regain control of your body's functions by introducing a calming feeling to them. The hope is that as you labor to keep consistent breathing that your body will follow suit and create its own calming sensation. It may take a while to get this method right but it can be very helpful.

Some people prefer to just wait out the panic attack as they know that it is a short term thing that will eventually pass. They remind themselves repeatedly that it is just a panic attack and it will pass. These methods can be very effective as ways to treat a panic attack.
