What Can I Do To Help An Oral or Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Having recognized the disquieting symptoms of oral or vaginal yeast infection, you could ask yourself what you can do to help these yeast infections. Well, there are certain home treatments or over-the counter medicines that you can use if you are sure that you have a yeast infection, however, if the symptoms do not disappear in a few days, you should definitely seek professional help as perhaps you are not even having a yeast infection, but some other kind of infection. Or perhaps, it is a more severe case, that should be treated by medicine prescribed by your doctor. Although, just to answer the question of what I can do to help a yeast infection, as a general guideline, you should eat more yoghurt, drink less beer for example, so pay special attention to your diet and your personal hygiene as well.

What Can I Do To Help An Oral Yeast Infection?

If you go to a doctor, most probably to your dentist, with an oral yeast infection, he/she will be able to prescribe suitable antifungal drugs and vitamins, however there are certain things that you can do yourself to help your oral yeast infection. Most importantly, you should follow a strict diet, not eating any sugars, alcohol, white flour or bread, you should also avoid milk and fruits, to help prevent the overgrowth or re-growth of the fungus.

You should sterilize your toothbrush, brush your teeth at least twice a day, and floss it at least once. Try avoiding any sprays, that can disrupt the balance in your mouth. If you use dentures, you should wash them thoroughly, and if your yeast infection is possibly caused by any other type of disease, you should try to treat that as well, if possible. This is what I can do to help a yeast infection, and in most of the cases, with successful results.

What Can I Do To Help A Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Vaginal yeast infection is quite common, and you should definitely be aware of how to prevent and stop it. If you are having it for the first time, it is advisable to see your doctor, who will prescribe suitable medicine. This can be in the form of antifungal medications, applied orally or around the vagina, which should be able to help your yeast infection.

However, if you do not want to see a doctor, there are a few steps you can take to help it as well. Firstly, you can buy over-the-counter antifungal creams, which should help, though are definitely not as effective as the medication prescribed by your doctor.

You should also pay additional attention to your personal hygiene, and know that if your partner can get your yeast infection during sexual intercourse, after which it may be transmitted back to you, even if yours had already disappeared. You pay attention to your diet, avoiding alcohol or bread for example. However, if none of your self-help treatments work, and the symptoms persist for more than a few days, you should definitely see your doctor.
