The Hot New Form Of Yoga: Bikram



Bikram yoga is one of the forms of yoga that is radically different from other forms of yoga. Despite being practiced pretty much like the other forms of yoga, it differs mainly in terms of the environment in which it is practiced because it requires being practiced in a room that is heated to between ninety and hundred degrees Fahrenheit.

What's more, there are all of twenty-six different yoga poses used in the Bikram style that have to be learned and practiced. Each pose has to be practiced twice in a session. The first poses that you will need to start with in Bikram yoga are the standing postures after which you can move on to the backward bends after which you will need to start with forward bends and then on to the spine twists.

While performing this style of yoga, the Bikram poses you will use include the technique known as the Lapalabhati Breath, also known as the Breath of Fire. This is an advanced technique that energizes and cleanses the practitioner. Most people wonder why Bikram yoga has to be performed in such hot conditions. The reason is that the heat allows the practitioner to safely perform the different poses with ease. The heat also makes the body more flexible and so it is easier to achieve the desired posture, which in turn will lead to more effective practice. It is important to not overextend your body with this increased flexibility, as injury could be the result. To be sure, practicing Bikram yoga goes beyond merely stretching out your muscles because you will also get to massage and work out your internal organs thereby strengthening and lubricating the glands inside your body and giving the nervous system a boost as well.



The founder of Bikram yoga is a person named Bikram Choudhury who began practicing yoga at the tender age of three. After long years of practicing yoga and learning under the famous physical culturist named Bishnu Ghosh he and his mentor came up with this novel form of yoga, which had to be practiced in extremely hot environs.
